Preface to the Third Edition
This third edition of the Civil War Passport Book includes eight new “Bonus Sites,” recommended by past program participants and experts. Visiting these sites is not a requirement to receive a signed Certificate of Completion, but participants who visit them in addition to the other sites in this book before the deadline will receive a large full-color map of all the sites as well as the certificate. No stamps will be available at the Bonus Sites. Instead, visits will be recorded by taking a selfie at a sign or marker.
The battles included have remained the same, but a few stamp sites have changed since our last publication, as well as the information and hours for some of the sites. Please review the sites’ websites or Facebook pages before starting your journey.
A final change in this edition pertains to the stamp pages in the back of the book. The blocks for each stamp have been made larger to make stamping easier and neater. An alternate stamp has been created and may be used at some sites if the original stamp is no longer working.
